So, you probably are familiar with the phrase “be still my beating heart” which has its roots in ancient literature, though in modern times is most often used as a melodramatic expression (sometimes sarcastically).  But what if we think about it a bit more deeply?  What if we take it in the more classical usage, such as in Homer’s Odyssey, where Odysseus tells his heart to be still after facing trouble?  When the world feels loud and overwhelming we all need to make time and space to stop and allow ourselves to be calm, to find whatever peace we can.  To literally let our beating hearts be a bit more still.
